Wild Horses. 野生の馬

Wild Horses in nature reserve De Blaauwe Kamer

Early mornings it's possible to see the horses when they gather near the lake for a drink. Sometimes they swim in the river, but one's not allowed to enter the reserve before 6 am.
However, I was happy to see them at ease at a spot where I was able to approached them - slowly.
I sat quietly in a dark corner for some time and all was well until one came close, attracted by my shoes, trying to chew the lace and another decided to inspect my bag...

野生の馬

The stallion standing in the shade on the right, constantly keeping an eye on me all must be the leader of the herd.

The Netherlands 1

Swans in the Waterweg

In the same area:

Oystercatcher,  Scholekster. On the look-out for scholletjes (flounder) or oysters?

Tern, Visdiefje. Although diefje means small robber and the name suggests the bird steals fish, I think the name is derived from the English word dive. A bird that dives for fish.

Coot, Meerkoet. Showing off it's huge feet.
